Lyonia Environmental Center

Several small photographs by Paul Rebmann have been incorporated into the educational displays at the Lyonia Environmental Center in Deltona, FL. Select Wild Florida Photo greeting cards and matted prints are available in the gift shop.

The Lyonia Environmental Center (LEC) had it's grand opening on Oct. 17, 2009 with a huge public turnout. The LEC is part of the Deltona Regional Library complex at Lyonia Preserve and features exhibits - some of them hands-on and interactive - about the environment in Volusia County. Also at the LEC are classrooms, a workroom for visiting scientists, outdoor amphitheater, an environmentally themed art exhibit, gift shop and cafe.

Behind the LEC is the Lyonia Preserve, a 400 acre county property. Since 1994 Volusia County Land Acquisition and Management has been restoring the habitat to the natural scrub preferred by the Florida scrub jay, a threatened species found only in Florida. There are several hiking trails that loop through the preserve where is is possible to see some of the Florida scrub jays that live in the Lyonia Preserve.

The Lyonia Environmental Center and Lyonia Preserve are at:
